Q: Can I order a Pretzel? (fyi, Pretzel is the monkey on the left. I do not bake pretzels.)
Sorry, I don't make duplicates. Mainly because it's no fun. But also because the uniqueness of each creature is what makes them so special! If there is something you like from the creatures I've made, I can make you a different version with similar qualities. Every creature is one-of-a-kind and exists first as a drawing in my sketch book. It is more fun to have your creature customized to the colors and characteristics that you choose anyway!
Q: How big are your creatures?
I realize that my photos can't accurately show their size...but the average size is about 10 inches tall. However, I have made miniatures around 5 inches (to hang in a car) and large pillow-like ones (like Freddie, the big cardinal on the left) that are about 20 inches tall. Baby toys are generally smaller, but I can make them however you'd like!
Q: How much are your creatures?
The price range is anything between 40 and 100 (or more), depending on the size and complexity of the creature. 40-45 is more typical for baby toys, which are usually simpler and/or smaller. 50 is typical for regular-sized creatures. The more you're willing to put in, the more details and hand-stitching I'll add. I can even embroider names/words on the creatures. If you're willing to spend a little extra, the more special and unique your creature will be...and a lot more fun for everybody (smile).
Q: How and when do I pay?
After you place your order, I will contact you to finalize the details and price of your creature. Afterwards, an electronic invoice will be sent to you, through which you may choose to pay online or mail me a check...whatever is easier for you! Once payment is received, the sewing process will begin (dun dun dun)!
Q: How much is shipping and handling?
Shipping and handling costs will be included in your invoice as an additional charge to your order. All shipped creatures are personally packaged and shipped via 2-3 day priority shipping. Overnight shipping is available at an additional cost. S+H is 8 for the first item and 2 for the second item (when shipped to the same address). If you don't want to pay shipping, you can always come visit me in New Jersey (smile).
Q: How quickly can you finish a creature?
So you need it for that birthday party or baby shower on Saturday? Okay...I'll do my best. Typically a creature will take about 3-4 hours to create, but it varies depending on the complexity of it. I'm pretty quick, but don't forget I'm still a one-person factory (and I have a full-time job) and it's all handmade! There is a waiting list, so the earlier you order, the better. Holiday orders fill up very (very very)) fast...the waiting list begins a couple months in advance! And don't forget to allow a few days for shipping as well.
Q: How do you come up with these names?
Most of the time I will name it after a certain feature or pattern that it has. For example, Peeko (bottom image) got his name because he likes to play peek-a-boo with his floppy hands. Sometimes it's based on instinct. Sometimes I will stare at it (for a long time) and start throwing out random names until one just seems right. On rare occassions, they remain nameless for a couple of hours, or days (or months). Poor Pretzel was nameless for about 4 months. No wonder he's a grumpy monkey.
